CSUSM Listed in Top 100 Schools Graduating Hispanic Students

California State University San Marcos was recognized as a “Publisher’s Pick” and listed in Hispanic Outlook magazine as one of 100 top schools in the United States graduating Hispanic students. The distinction demonstrates the university’s commitment to Hispanic students and their academic success.

“Expanding opportunities for Hispanics in higher education has always been our passion and our focus,” said Hispanic Outlook publisher, José López-Isa. “Our list of ‘Publisher’s Picks 2006,’ state by state, represents our latest and best thinking about which colleges and universities offer Hispanic students a solid chance of academic success. Many of our readers were part of those victories, too – professors, advisors, financial aid officers, dorm supervisors, student mentors, scholarship grantors, librarians, and every security guard, cafeteria worker, and groundskeeper who shared a smile or service that eased the path.”

CSUSM  is well on its way to being granted “Hispanic Serving Institution” status by the federal government for having at least a 25 percent Hispanic full-time student enrollment. Currently, CSUSM’s student body is comprised of 21.7% Hispanics.
