CSUSM Announces Administrative Changes
President Karen Haynes of California State University San Marcos announced two administrative changes Jan. 9: Neal Hoss, the university’s vice president of finance and administrative services since January 2005, was named vice president of university advancement, and Linda Hawk, who has been associate vice president of resource management in finance and administrative services, will step into Hoss’ former spot. Both appointments are effectively immediately.
“In Mr. Hoss’s tenure as head of finance and administrative Services, he created an environment for continuous improvement and administrative productivity,” said Haynes. “He has been an effective steward of the university budget and resources. His capable leadership, close ties to our external community and friends, and knowledge of the CSU system will place university advancement and the university in a strong position as we near our 20th anniversary. “
Hoss has a long history in the San Diego region, having worked at the University of San Diego and in university advancement at UC San Diego for 4.5 years during their 25th anniversary campaign. He served as CFO for the UCSD Foundation, overseeing gift processing, acknowledgement and stewardship and developed processes for planned giving instruments, capital campaigns and reporting of private support.
Hawk has been with Cal State San Marcos since 2001. She has strong knowledge of the university budget and fiscal policies of the CSU. As a member of the Council for University Strategic Planning (CUSP) and the University Budget Committee, she has been closely connected with all aspects of the university. Hawk has a long history in education, having worked for seven years as the director of business services at Alliant International University and with other institutions. She will complete her Ed.D. dissertation in fall 2008.
