Mediamaker Series Announces Spring Schedule
International films, documentary films and hand-made super 8 films are included in this year’s lineup for the spring 2008 Mediamaker Series at California State University San Marcos. Admission is free and open to the public.
The schedule is as follows:
Film Director Lawrence Blume Presents “Martin and Orloff”
Monday, Feb. 11, 5:30 p.m, Markstein Hall, Room 102
Film director and technologist Lawrence Blume screens his independent dark comedy Martin & Orloff (2002) which features the Upright Citizens Comedy Brigade, with appearances by Janeane Garofalo, David Cross, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Andy Richter. Blume will discuss directing feature films, the comedy genre, and the future of film and TV technology.
Paper Tiger Reads Paper Tiger Television
Tuesday, February 12 at 3 p.m. - ARTS Building, Room 101
A new documentary on Art, Activism and Analysis smashing the myths of the information industry for 25 years! An early innovator in video art and public access television, PTTV developed a unique aesthetic that experimented with the television medium combining art, academics, politics, performance and live television. “Presented by VPA and Mass Media, support by IRA Funds.”
Guilherme Marcondes, “Tyger”
Tuesday, March 11 at 2:30 p.m. - ARTS Building, Room 340
Award-winning Brazilian Filmmaker, Marcondes, will present his animated film, “Tyger”, based on William Blake’s poem of the same name. Placed in Sao Paulo’s chaotic urban landscape, the film utilizes a fascinating mixture of puppetry, digital animation, and live video. Marcondes will discuss his process in making this work and other animations. This event is sponsored by VPA and Mass Media, The San Diego Latino Film Festival, and IRA funding.

Thursday, April 10 at 6 p.m. - Academic Hall, Room 102
Hand-Made Films Screening and Hand-Processing Workshop with Brooklyn Filmmaker, Megan Hessenthaler. Work screened will include short films "Dirt" and "Make Me" by Megan Hessenthaler.
Friday, April 11 at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. –Arts Building, Room 342
Sign up to learn and make a unique one of a kind, hand-processed super 8mm film 3.5minutes. Instructor will be visiting hand-processing filmmaker, musician, and teacher, Megan Hessenthaler.
