Cal State San Marcos Celebrates 17th Commencement
WHAT: Cal State San Marcos’ hosts its 17th annual commencement ceremonies.
WHEN: Saturday, May 17, 2008–8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m
WHERE: Main Grandstand, Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar
WHO: More than 1,700 candidates are expected to participate (of 2,531 eligible), including the first seven recipients of the joint CSUSM/UCSD doctorate in education program and 211 master’s candidates. Three new disciplines will also be recognized: BA in anthropology, BA in mass media and BS in biotechnology.
Additionally, John (Jack) Raymond, chairman and CEO of the Raymond Companies, will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (L.H.D.) and Albert Kern, Ph.D., a pioneer and leader in the biotechnology industry, will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Science (Sc.D.), conferred by both California State University and California State University San Marcos.

3 p.m.—Conferring of degrees: Baccalaureate degrees in biochemistry, biological sciences, biotechnology, business administration, chemistry, computer science, economics, history, human development, kinesiology, mathematics, political science, psychology, visual and performing arts; Master’s degrees in biological sciences, business administration, computer science, mathematics, psychology
