Dr. Patricia Worden to Receive YWCA TWIN Award

Dr. Patricia Worden, Vice President of Student Affairs at California State University San Marcos, is one of 80 women that will be recognized for outstanding achievements by the YWCA of San Diego June 27 at its annual Tribute to Women and Industry luncheon June 27 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Dr. Worden received her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from UC San Diego, and was on the faculty at Cal State Fullerton for 12 years before joining CSUSM in 1989 as one of 12 founding faculty.
She was appointed to her current position as Vice President for Student Affairs in July 2005, providing overall leadership for the division’s three major areas: Enrollment Management Services, Student Academic Support Services, and Student Development Services.  Prior to that, Dr. Worden served in a number of other executive positions including 10 years as the first associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences, first dean of graduate studies, as well as associate vice president for research.

Dr. Worden co-chairs the university's Veterans and Active Duty Educational Task Force, whose charge is to foster programs and activities to support educational success for military students. She also sits on the City of San Marcos Student and Neighborhood Relations Commission, a collaborative partnership between the city and regional educational institutions to work proactively on "town-gown" issues as Cal State San Marcos continues to grow.

Launched by the YWCA in 1980, TWIN has paid tribute to more than 2300 professional women and their organizations in recognition of their leadership roles in providing advancement opportunities for women in the workplace.
