In an effort to increase the academic success rate of foster care children, Cal State San Marcos and San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to prepare San Diego County foster youth for entrance into the university.

Over 100 faculty, staff, administrators and students from across the University are working this semester on the Foundations of Excellence (FoE) Task Force. The task force is organized into several “dimension committees,” each of which is studying a particular aspect of the First-Year at San Marcos.

Cindy Sheehan, the peace activist who camped outside of President Bush’s Texas ranch and helped reignite the peace movement, will speak on campus Thursday, April 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Room 240 of the Arts Building. The event is free and open to the public.

Cal State San Marcos will celebrate its 17th Commencement on Saturday, May 17, 2008. Currently there are 2,531 students eligible to graduate with a projected attendance of approximately 914 students for the morning ceremony and 816 for the afternoon ceremony--100 more eligible graduates than last year.
